During intervening night of 3 & 4 May, Police Station Aishmuqam received a written report from Mohd Lateef Shah resident of Hardkichroo Ashmuqam stating that his niece namely Zulaikha was married to Sadam Ahmed Shah of Amadzoo Aishmuqam 3 years ago.
At about 10.20 PM he came to know that his niece has been killed. On receipt of this information, case FIR NO. 47 under section 302-RPC was registered at Police station Ashmuqam and investigation was taken up. Police Party from Police Station rushed to spot and scene of crime was inspected. The husband of the deceased was absconding initially but later he was traced and put to questioning.
The husband and his father initially narrated different stories but after sustained questioning in light of the circumstantial evidences, accused confessed to the crime. The confessional statement of the accused husband Sadam Shah son of Rasool Shah resident of Amadzoo Ashmuqam was properly recorded as per the rules. The accused disclosed the whole event which led to the recovery of weapon of offence.
The prompt action of Police aided by professional and scientific investigation helped in cracking this heinous crime. The locals of area have appreciated the immediate action by Anantnag Police.
